One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is having a sort of VIP status. I hear about secret surprises the bride may be planning for the groom, her mother, or a friend. I see the most intimate of moments between brides and grooms during First Looks… AND I also get to see the bride in her wedding gown before just about everyone except a handful of very special folks during bridal session! And I LOVE this! Not only does it make me feel pretty dang special…and definitely like a VIP, but it also allows adequate time for me to work with the bride and create images of her in her gown that would otherwise not be possible on the wedding day. I personally think it’s a great time for the bride to practice with hair, makeup, and jewelry. Additionally, what bride doesn’t want to wear that magical dress as much, and as often, as possible!
Jen decided she wanted her bridal portraits to be done at Maymont Park. I have to be honest… I have only visited Maymont when spending a day off with the boys or during family sessions. Until this point, I had never photographed a wedding, engagement, or bridal session at the location. Crazy, I know. But it’s true. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had never viewed Maymont in terms of a backdrop for anything bridal or wedding-oriented. I must say, after this session, I’m sold. There was so much variety around the grounds, and Jen made it all look good! Take a look…
And that TREE! Love!
One of my favorites… I love the wide angle.
On the right? Another favorite!
Gah! LOVE this one!
Flowerama put together this bouquet for this session, complete with peacock feathers. i think it looks amazing!
As you will see in the next several images, Maymont really DOES have a ton of variety for portraits!
Jen’s sister-in-law, Amanda decided that Jen should sit in the tree. As we all attempted to make that happen, I started to think it wasn’t a great idea…at least if we wanted her dress to stay in one piece. However, we managed, and I love this shot!
you made a beautiful bride! I had such a great time meeting you and Kenny and your Deep Run Park wedding was fantastic! I can’t wait for you to see your photos when you get back from Aruba!
Happy Saturday, friends!
