I found Jen at the Hyatt House sitting on a stool facing a window overlooking downtown Short Pump. She was halfway through makeup and already looked amazing. Her mother and her best friends filled every facet of the hotel suite, and traces of blue, purple, and peacock feathers were scattered all around. Jen had been planning this day for months, and right in front of her eyes, it was becoming a reality. And she, while a little overwhelmed with the pressure of it all, was beyond excited! Her focus was on one thing, and that was Kenny. She was about to become his wife, and she. couldn’t. wait.
Directly above Jen’s suite, Kenny and the groomsmen were getting ready. You couldn’t find a more laid back guy if you tried. Kenny is always the same.. calm, cool, collected. And this day was no different. In the groomsmen suite, old school hip-hop blared. The groomsmen were obviously men after my own heart, as this allowed me to do a little dancing along the way. And I may or may not have realized I still know all the words to Parents Just Don’t Understand… But I digress. The point is this: Kenny’s friends knew what this day meant..how it had been in the making for many years…and that Kenny was about to say “I Do” to the woman who fit him like a glove. And they were going to celebrate.
Jen walked down the isle in her gorgeous gown, on the arm of her brother. She and Kenny held hands, laughed, and spoke their promises to each other. They passed their rings, tied to a pillow, up and down the rows, asking the guests to offer thoughts and prayers of blessing upon the couple as they passed by. The ceremony was followed by a fantastic reception, full of dancing, singing, and laughter. LOTS of laughter! Jen and Kenny’s closest friends and family raised their glasses to toast the newly married couple and to share words of support. Tears were shed as they told stories of the friendships they share with the couple and what they had come to mean to them throughout the years. The couple smiled and enjoyed every moment of their day until the last song played. And they looked foward to a long, happy life together, which I am confident they will have.
Jen and Kenny,
All your hard work and detailed planning paid off! Your day was gorgeous! Your day was fun, intimate, and a true reflection of your love for each other. Thank you for including me and becoming my friends along the way. I have enjoyed every bit of time we have spent together. It has been an honor. I hope these images bring you years of good memories and you love them as much as I do! Have a blast in Aruba! Much love, M 🙂
Well done on those rings, Kenny. Well done.
I love it when brides take the time to focus on their paper suite and personalize their details. I adore this monogramming.
Kenny’s uncle was on deck to make sure he was put together just right.
A sweet card from his bride.
Kenny’s brother was probably not very thrilled about having this job! Boutonnieres are not as easy to put on as one might think…
Hey, pretty lady! And how ’bout that lace detail on the bridesmaids dresses?? Gorge.
The mother/bride moments always make my heart skip a beat. Such a special time for a mother to see her daughter get married.
Jen… you look radiant!
Those are some handsome groomsmen, are they not?!? And a big THANK YOU to my second shooter Patrick for these shots!
Kenny is looking quite dapper, don’t you think?
The ladies…pretty as ever.
Despite the rain and having to move the ceremony indoors, the details for the day were exquisite, and the ceremony venue, Deep Run Recreation Center, looked amazing.
Here comes the bride!
The newly married Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Miller! Congratulations, you two! Even though the couple chose not to do a First Look, they allowed ample time after the ceremony to capture those special bride and groom portraits. This is so important, and I appreciate the value they placed on this part of the day! I think they turned out amazingly.
Seriously, Jen??? Gah! You are gorgeous!
The whole bridal crew! What a great group of friends this couple has!
And I just added this photo in to prove that I’m funny. Really funny.
Jen’s dad, Rick Hunsucker, catered the wedding! What a special thing for Jen! The food was delicious, and if you are ever in need of catering, you should definitely give him a shout!
Jen’s dad wishing the happy couple a lifetime of love. And dancing. Of course there is dancing!
The cake was GORGEOUS! Obvi.
In lieu of a father/daughter dance, Jen recorded herself singing a song for her father. That girl can SING! As it played, they spent some special time together. Talk about a melting heart.
Jen and Kenny danced and laughed throughout the evening… enjoying every moment.
