Tall trees lined the miles-long, paved driveway as I made my way to the reception venue at Pocahontas Park to meet Anne. It was beautiful. The rain had stopped and the sun was trying to show it’s face through the clouds. The trees went for as far as I could see. They share a love for the outdoors, and Anne and Dave couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate their love.
The reception hall was bustling with some of the most important people in Anne and Dave’s lives. They were on a mission to make this day…the day their friends would marry…the best it could possibly be. And they did just that.
Anne was calm as she spent the hours before her wedding with her mother, her sister, and her best girl friends. Across the lawn, Dave was no less content. If either of them were the least bit nervous, you couldn’t tell. But then, why would they be? This day was a long time coming, and if Anne and Dave knew nothing else, they knew that this was exactly where they were meant to be with exactly the right person.
When it was time for the First Look, and Anne took her first look at her groom through the trees, waiting for her with his back-turned to her, she was overcome with emotion. She stopped and breathed in the magnitude of the moment. Anne walked to Dave, gently touching his shoulder when she reached him. As he turned and their eyes locked for the first time that day, it became crystal clear. They were content, in love, and ready to face the world. Together.
The rest of the day ran seamlessly. The rain held off and the intimate, outdoor ceremony overlooking a lake couldn’t have been more beautiful. Afterwards, the evening was full of dancing, singing, laughter and love. A good time was had by all.
Anne and Dave,
Thank you so very much for allowing me to part of your special moments and to help your memories last a lifetime. May your wedding day images always take you back to that magical day when you said, “I do.” Much love and happiness always.

The outdoor-themed wedding was a perfect reflection of Anne and Dave’s personalities. I chose to shoot the details outdoors to more fully tell an accurate wedding-day story.
Anne’s Galina dress was gorgeous! She also chose to wear her grandmother’s aquamarine ring on her right hand. It made a perfect “something blue.”
Dave plays the guitar in two bands and he chose these rad shoes to represent that aspect of his personality. Love them!
Anne’s sister, Terry, helped Anne as she prepared to meet her groom.
Dave’s best man and oldest friend, Mike, flew in from the west coast for the special day. Mike took his job seriously and ensured Dave was exactly where he needed to be at all times and ready to go. Good job, Mike!
The First Look…which you know I LOVE. This series of images are my favorite from the day. Anne and Dave were amazingly calm and content. I think it shows in their portraits. Don’t you?
Gorgeous, Anne. You are beautiful!
Didn’t I tell you it was beautiful? It so was.
Intimate moments from the ceremony.
The reception hall was fabulous. Anne chose all the details to make her day perfect. Burlap and wildflowers lined the tables.
How cool is this cake topper!?!? However, there was no cake. Anne and Dave chose to have a brownie bar. One word: Delish. There were cream cheese brownies, mint brownies, chocolate brownies, peanut butter brownies, toppings, ice cream… Get the picture?
Anne and Dave and their cute pup. It wouldn’t be a wedding without the furry family member, now would it?!?

Happy Thursday, friends!
